Windows Virtualbox VPN

Hallo,

Was ich also will:

HOST -> VPN -> VM -> WEB

Bridge is a network adapter on is own. You can think of it as if it were a separate network card (of course it is only virtual), completely separated from the host system with its own IP address etc. and hence unaffected by the firewall of the host system.

Does it make more sense for security reason to get the vpn manager on the VM or just use the NAT settings and use PP VPN from the host?

It's a very good question, whose answer I think depends on what you name "security" and what your thread model is.

With VMs, you become able to perform "separate identies", using a VM for certain tasks, an other VM for others. Moreover, you are able to chose the OS you want, ant the VPN provider you want to connect to. Using a Windows VM on Linux host is probably more secure than using windows host alone... You may even, for very sensible task, use a good vpn provider on the host, a and an other good but different vpn provider on VM, set up with portable VirtualBox for exemple on an hidden encrypted OS, etc etc. You may set up forked vpn connection (working in bridge mode, some others in nat mode), etc etc... VMs usage gives you a lot of flexibility.
