Is Perfect Privacy dying?

What the hell is going on here?!

Even the servers that are online aren't working properly. My FreshTomato router can barely connect to any of them now. It seems like the configuration needs updating, but who’s going to do that? This company feels like it's on autopilot, just waiting for everything to shut down.

I've been a customer for almost 15 years! I would have left long ago if I didn't remember how great the support used to be. But if this keeps up, I won’t have any choice but to look for another VPN provider – and honestly, I’ll have no other option because THIS ISN'T WORKING!

i just posted a thread complaining about various issues. Asked community for alternative to PP. Guess what? The thread was immediatlely deleted by mods... they are censoring the forums... free speech and privacy, yeah right. PP is a scam

It certainly feels like Perfect Privacy is dying...

I've been paying an expensive (compared to competitors) price for their VPN for years,
and always was happy with the service they offered.

However my opinion has been changing in the last year,
currently I'm very discontent with the service as is...

Some of my frustrations in the last year:
- Server Status: Always about 5 to 10 servers under "Maintenance",
at the moment of writing this 9/42 servers are under maintenance,
so 21.4% of the servers of a premium service are down?! That's unacceptable!
- Support Ticket: I've opened one 3 months ago, still not received a reply. Also unacceptable!
- Android - Official Client: Completely unable to connect with any servers since around Christmas 2024,
barely any response from the PP team, and the German thread about it going haywire ever since. Even more unacceptable!
- Android - OpenVPN Client: Works for the time being, but leads to connection issues when switching between mobile network and WiFi.
- Windows - Official Client: Old client was very slow in making connection,
and did not automatically update to the new client.
New client broke my internet interface so badly,
that I had to uninstall and reset the adapters to be able to re-connect with the internet without VPN..
- Windows - OpenVPN Client: Often fails to connect, leading to manually needing to switch the default VPN used during system startup.

If my current 2 year subscription didn't have 11 more months on it,
I would already have switched to a competitor by now.

I'm really getting tired of all these issues,
especially since we're paying an expensive premium for this barely working service...

Since no one from the staff answered. Maybe you open another ticket and ask in the forum. Also they're apparently back from holidays and sick days and work on the problems. Was postet in the german forum but maybe the stuff will also post something.

Lars of the PP team put in a night shift last Wednesday,
since then the Android Official Client appears to work correctly again,
for which I'm grateful.

However:
- It's still unacceptable that a VPN for such an expensive price had 2 weeks of downtime.
- It's also unacceptable that this was not properly communicated to the customers,
and that I had to figure it out by diving in a user created German thread with +100 posts and translate them to learn about it.

My trust in PP as a reliable service has been lost,
but since you guys have been the best in the game regarding privacy and security for years,
I'm willing to give it another shot.

I was very close to switch to a competitor, planned on doing so this weekend,
but decided to give it another shot since the issues appear to have been resolved now.

However if another issue like this arises before the end of my subscription (11 months left),
then I'll be saying goodbye to PP.

If all continues to go well for the remainder of my subscription,
then I'll likely renew my subscription again once the time comes,
but first trust in PP as a service has to be regained!..

Just wait for it. The absence of the "team" at the end of the year is also a tradition.
We are often understaffed during the Christmas period and the summer holidays. Some of us have families with children and they are entitled to the holidays. But that's not just the case for us. You can also see it in many other sectors.

Been experiencing disconnection issues all day again over different servers.
After barely x2 weeks of things working like normal,
not off to a good start of regaining trust as a reliable service...

Well, PP did not respond at all during the holidays, so not a single technician came to see what was going on.
TBH, I don't care about your marital status. As a premium service customer I expect 24/7/365 service.

Maybe you should let us know when some of you have family events or birthdays, so we can switch to Mullvad or another VPN whose staff don’t have families. That way, we can avoid all these issues.

No, I’m talking about switching to a VPN that costs $5 instead of $12.99, actually works, and communicates with its users respectfully.

Perfect Privacy hasn’t published any updates in over a year - we have no idea if the rest of the team is alive or dead, except for @PP Christian, who neither knows nor wants to answer any questions but is always around to like your posts.

You know, ask yourself 2 things.
- If the other VPN provider knows how many devices are logged in, how can they do it without logs? And how can they see that Device 5 and 7 is offline cause network disconnection? They have to keep some logs where they can see which device is still online and which not. Or that they have to remove Device 5 after some timeout, who device5 is...
- Why do all these people who do bad stuff use PP servers? The servers from other VPN providers are sometimes faster (10gbit/5gbit/whatever vs 1 gbit) and they have more servers so if 4 servers are offline cause DDOS they can switch without problems to 6496 other servers (you understand the joke here, and these servers are also cheaper). So why don't they do it, why are the servers not taken down? Do they log? Do they analyze the traffic? Even the "holy" Mullvad had exactly THESE tools preinstalled on the audit server and we don't know what they even do on their real servers (beside their promises). Read the Tarnkappe report about the audit again (https://tarnkappe.info/artikel/internet/mullvad-vpn-laesst-audit-durchfuehren-279396.html)

But that's not the issue here.

I wonder how data centers and other critical infrastructure providers deal with holidays. Don't they have SLAs that ensure the structure is maintained 24/7/365? To mention that some people have families is a really weak argument and I don't care about personal stuff at all. It is not very professional to even mention such a thing.

Came here to complain that frequent disconnections still occur after 5 days,
now I see that we just need to "Deal with it!"...

It, as in PP not being a reliable service,
yet asking a premium price compared to competitors who have much better uptime?!...

Absolutely unacceptable, and the last straw, not refreshing my subscription anymore after this experience + response.
What a joke this service is growing into, truly a shim of it's former glory!

Many servers have been under "maintenance" for months. I've been a PP user for over seven years, but this time, I will likely not renew. A year ago, I submitted a support request regarding FreshTomato, similar to issues reported by others, but received no useful help. Unfortunately, I can't just 'deal with it' anymore.

Are there any plans to resolve these long-term maintenance issues?
