Can I use Plex and openvpn together?

Hello,

you mean the Media Server or the Client? The Client is no Problem, but the Media Server is a little bit..... I use also Plex and had a few Problems with the Portforwarding via PPTP/OpenVPN and Plex. You need a little Trick to use it.

The Problem is the Follow: If you start the Plex Media Server and change the Port in the Setup, then the Mainserver from Plex use the entered Port, BUT your Plexserver will use 32400 as Port. I do not know why Plex do this, but.... I do the follow:

1. Create a Custom RPF Port in your Members Area. Choose a location like Rotterdam and enter as Port 32400 and Submit. You will get a random Source Port like 50892 and as Destination Port 32400.

2. Connect via PPTP or OpenVPN on your local PMS Mashine

3. Go into the PMS Setup under Preferences and enter as your Port the Source Port like 50892.

You will see that it runs.

Additional Info: I use PMS on Mac OS and not Windows. I test this only on MacOS

Cascading make absolut no sense on a PMS-Mashine. In a normal case it should be run, but ..... use only one Server

But how do you deal with PP changing the source port (in your example 50892) to a random value every week?
