Kape Technologies now has bought the fourth VPN, ExpressVPN (for $936 million) [1]. Over the past couple of years the company has already aquired the VPNs CyberGhost VPN (9,2 million €), Zenmate (4,8 million €) and Private Internet Access ($128 million), some of them before the change of name from Crossrider to Kape Technologies [2]. Before the change of name the company Crossrider was mostly known for developing software falling into the category of malware (such as the fake Adobe Flash updates).

What to think of it when a company, which before was standing for the exact oppisite of privacy, anonymity and security, becomes active in this field everyone has to judge for himself. Also the existing proximity of the involved people to military and intelligence agencies (Unit 8200, IDF) should make you sceptical about this. This year Kape also has aquired Webselense ($150 million) [3], the company running vpnMentor.
